Are you quite certain about the legality, specifically with reference to the use of steroids?

I ought not to disagree with the logic behind your main point, but every time I hear someone defending the use of steroids by pro athletes, I want to fly to Portland and lay some flowers at the grave of Lyle Alzado.

I also have distinct memories of friends of mine in the dorm using 'roids before they were banned. Aside from the incredibly-horrible back-ackne (backne?) that they induced, the 'roid rage was something awful to behold (e.g., me in one of my unholy moods, only much more frequent. And if it's okay for pro athletes to use it, the slippery slope goes down to high school level. I know of former students of mine who were using them while still my students.

No. No, no, no. Congress is full of morons, but that doesn't lead us to the other extreme.
