The lawsuits over Vioxx have already started, and, as usual, Beaumont leads the way. Here’s the story from the Enterprise. I love the first sentence:
Lovicy Richard was a healthy, active 91-year-old a year ago.
And she suffered a stroke. I am terribly sorry for her condition, and my prayers are with her and her family, but maybe, just maybe, might the fact that SHE WAS 91 YEARS OLD have something to do with her stroke?
Actually, as you put it – “the fact that she was 91 yrs old” is wrong – as that was a YEAR AGO, so in fact she was 92… Being 92 just might have something to do with it though – either way she was just butt old! I still wanna go getting hit by a bus. None of this old crap for me (too late!!!)
And yet, the frivolous lawsuits continue. I hope I die of a massive coronary whilst holding a Whopper, so that my children and grandchildren can grow ridiculously wealthy on Burger King’s dollar.
Or, let’s go all out. I’ll die while at the computer, so my kids can sue Compaq.
Beaumont also made it into the news–and onto the radio station talk shows–when Fahrenheit 9/11 was shown to kids in High School (in an alternative school, nonetheless) without any kind of parental permission.
The principal approved showing this R-rated film to children not his own! The superintendent’s response? “We don’t need to be showing biased viewpoints in BISD”–completely ignoring the R rating.
My sig will take you to the story in the Houston Chronicle.
