I’m 35th in line at Memorial City Mall to get a new iPhone. I tried the Galleria first, which had about the same number of folks, but security wouldn’t let us use the floor power receptacles (said someone plugged into one one time and it caught fire, there was a lawsuit, &c. &c.) We’ve got power, but no Wi-Fi (we’re in a cordon around the corner from the Apple Store, just out of range; I’ve been trying to talk them into putting in a base station to bridge the network over to us, but no luck yet. In the meantime, am using the Treo to upload this.

The family at the front of the line got here at 7pm last night. The Apple Store employees have been coming by every so often handing out water and coffee; Chick-Fil-A came by and took orders. Mostly late teems and early 20s in line, but a few of us older types and some families.

Actually, I became an instant uncle to Grace, Hannah, John, and Mary B. the day I married Anne, but yesterday witnessed the birth of my first blood-related neice, Rebekah Christine White:

They delivered yesterday due to some complications, but after a month in the hospital, she should be good as gold. Lauren had a successful hernia operation to go along with the C-section, and should be able to go home in a few more days. As always, your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
