Best New Restaurants – Catalan Food & Wine, Houston – Esquire
Catalan is very special for us. Chris kind of ‘adopted’ my parents when he was the sous chef and later “wine guy” at Brennan’s. His food was always exquisite, and he’d always make sure my mom got her favorite cheese grits. When he teamed up to start Catalan, we were very excited at the prospect, and were not disappointed. Two weeks afer they opened, it is where we celebrated my parents’ 43rd anniversary…and where I proposed to Anne. We have been back numerous times, and have always had a wonderful dining experience.
So glad to see them getting this national recognition!
PS y’all need to fix your homepage!

Chris (if you read this): I know that you have very legitimate reasons for not wanting to fool with my favorite dish of your former establishment. But if I may make two suggestions for possible replacements? 1) Curry-fried oysters and 2) Chile-fried scallops?
