NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!! Keep DST! The key is to look at who did the study: Hoosiers who feel sentimental about being on “God’s Time”.
Remember, I lived in Indiana once upon a time, where there was no DST and the idiots time-delayed all TV broadcasts so as not to alarm their viewers with summer-adjusted times (the Terre Haute and Evansville affiliates were, in fact, on DST and so I could watch the same shows twice on cable). DST isn’t so much an energy saver as an economic stimulus to businesses that rely on outdoor light to stimulate behavior: retail shopping and restaurants with patios. Both groups heavily campaigned in favor of DST for years before it finally passed.
Also, in the North it is about school safety. Without DST you have kids waiting for the bus in total darkness at 7:30 in the morning.
Finally, Indiana is a special case because it is northerly as well as being extremely far-east relative to the Central time zone. Meaning: during the summer, the sun literally rose at 4:15AM. That’s just too damn early!
