I have a couple of great things I’m appearing in this month:
- I will be performing on the staff singer recital at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 5pm on Saturday, January 15. I’ll be singing two favorites of mine: “From the Rage of the Tempest” from Handel’s opera Scipione; and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! The other singers are all amazing, and are doing a variety of different pieces…this is going to be a very fun, eclectic concert. [Also, I am now a full-time staff singer at St. Mark’s after subbing for them for several years, so if you don’t have a church home please come visit.]
- I will be making my Houston Grand Opera debut in Silent Night, Kevin Puts’ and Mark Campbell’s Pulitzer-Prize-winning opera about the WWI truce of Christmas 1914. This beautiful, haunting work is very moving, with a chorus of sixty! Silent Night runs from January 23 – February 8, and tickets are on sale now. Come see me in a kilt!
Hope to see you at one or both of these!
-Joe
