Howdy y’all,

Had an unexpected opportunity come up: I’ll be playing the role of Ernst Ludwig in CABARET. I’ll be joining my friend Caryn Fulda, who is playing Fräulein Schneider, and the rest of the talented cast.

CABARET runs April 24 through May 3, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.ArtFactoryHouston.com/tickets or at the door. Art Factory is located just north of downtown at The Docks at 1125 Providence Street, Houston, Texas. Free onsite parking is available.

Hope to see you there!

I have a couple of great things I’m appearing in this month:

  • I will be performing on the staff singer recital at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 5pm on Saturday, January 15. I’ll be singing two favorites of mine: “From the Rage of the Tempest” from Handel’s opera Scipione; and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'” from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! The other singers are all amazing, and are doing a variety of different pieces…this is going to be a very fun, eclectic concert. [Also, I am now a full-time staff singer at St. Mark’s after subbing for them for several years, so if you don’t have a church home please come visit.]
  • I will be making my Houston Grand Opera debut in Silent Night, Kevin Puts’ and Mark Campbell’s Pulitzer-Prize-winning opera about the WWI truce of Christmas 1914. This beautiful, haunting work is very moving, with a chorus of sixty! Silent Night runs from January 23 – February 8, and tickets are on sale now. Come see me in a kilt!

Hope to see you at one or both of these!

-Joe
