When I worked in Budapest in 1993, I discovered that in Hungary people would often buy their own cola syrup and add seltzer to make drinks. One of the ones I saw for sale was called Joe’s Cola, which has a stars and stripes background. I promptly bought a bottle, and brought it back with me upon my return to the states (though I never tasted it). My collection remained stagnant until 2003, when Rice won the NCAA Baseball College World Series. The local Coca-Cola bottler issued commemorative bottles, of which I bought a six-pack. Fast forward to today, when Dennis and I stopped at the Super-K at the corner of San Felipe and Shepherd after decorating Anne’s mantel (finally, after starting the project for her birthday in November, and weeks after we broke up, but finally!), where I found the latest piece for my collection, Pimp Juice. Their motto? Let It Loose.
