This is new news. The news you DIDN’T post was that the 9th doctor, Eccleston, quit after only one season, making him the shortest-tenured of the BBCTV-broadcast Doctors. (Colin Baker lasted two seasons, Sylvester McCoy did two-and-a-half, and the other guy did the pilot for Fox and a few of the BBC Radio voice-overs [which is considered ‘canon’, so yes, the Doctor has human DNA –although from the online novels {also ‘canon’} we know that the Doctor is the descendant of one of the Holy Trinity of the Ancient Times; Rassilon, Omega, and the Stranger].)
